Paddle Canada Moving Water Intro Tandem or Solo Course
Aim - Introducing the skills and techiques necessary for safe travel and enjoyment in Class 2 Plus Moving Water. This course is a ton of fun as we camp out for 2 nights and spend the days paddling the warm friendly waters of the Churchill River, upstream from Devil Lake Dock, north of La Ronge, SK. In addition to moving water skills necessary for Canoe Tripping, we will cover skills needed for white-water play time like Surfing and eddy hopping.
Prerequisites - Paddle Canada Moving Water Intro Course
Dates - July 20-22, 2018. You will need to be at Devil Lake Dock 10am Friday morning July 20th for the start of the course. Travelling up Thursday night July 19th is recommended. The Course will finish early afternoon on the 22nd so participants can travel home the afternoon/evening of the 22nd.
Cost - $225 plus GST/person for the course fee. Additional costs could include canoe rental or shared canoe rental for tandem participants.
Each participant will be responsible to bring their own camping gear, cooking gear, and food. Common camp sites will be used so shared camp items like tarp & fire will be provided. Car pooling will be possible from Regina & Saskatoon on Thursday evening the 19th. Course curriculum items will be covered in evening campfire sessions.
Successful candidates will be awarded their Paddle Canada Moving Water Intro certification. Candidates that have previously taken this level can greatly benefit by taking this course again, or choosing the Solo option. In special cases if skill is present, successful candidates who have previously been awarded the Intro certification could be awarded their Intermediate.
