DAY TWO: Talking about and practicing improvised shelters and insulation techniques. We will also be showing and practicing strategies for extracting a vehicle. As well as some fire lighting and improvised stoves and heaters. Talk about carbon monoxide, hypothermia, and frostbite.
DAY THREE: Mental survival games, food, water, communication, and signaling.
What to bring:
Winter clothing, personal effects, what you would normally carry in your vehicle on a highway trip. Any gear you would like to try out. Your own food and bedding (including sleeping bag). There is a warm building provided with beds, bathrooms, and a kitchen for food prep.
Registration: Please register at The North Face Regina, 2018 Park Street, Regina, or email us at [email protected].
This will be a hands-on course. While no one is required to spend the night outside, it is an opportunity to do so in a safe environment (available beds in a heated building). Bring clothes and sleeping gear with the idea of sleeping in a vehicle and in an improvised shelter or tent. A good portion of the course will be spent outside, so bring sufficient clothing and layers.
Hope to see you there!
