The North Face Saskatoon Ambassador

Meet James Funk, The North Face Saskatoon’s Ambassador James Funk has been a lifelong advocate of getting outdoors and being active. He is drawn to the epic and loves self-propelled and self-supported pursuits. Being active in a number of outdoor activities rates highly on his priorities and he tries to involve the rest of his family in these pursuits as often as possible. James happily recounts many family hikes, canoe trips and bike tours, tenting in the summer and quinzees in thewinter, as well as family outings to the “Birkie” in Edmonton and skiing here in town with the Saskatoon Nordic Ski Club. More recently, James has focused on training and racing as a runner. He began with the dream of completing the Boston Marathon (2007), but has long since defined success in terms of personal improvement. “I try to inspire my fellow runners as well as the students I coach at the high school where I teach, to compete not necessarily for a place in a race, but with the toughest competitors; themselves.” James has had competitive success in recent years in Road Racing, winning the Queen City Half Marathon (Regina) the past five years, winning the provincial 10km title several times, and the Saskatchewan Marathon in 2014. This is James’ second year as a The North Face Saskatoon
